Popularity Clubhouse which continues to skyrocket, making many technology companies competing to develop clones. As Instagram which was recently revealed to be developing the ‘audio rooms’ feature.
The existence of this feature was first discovered by developer Alessandro Paluzzi. It looks like this feature will be part of Instagram and will not be a separate application, as quoted from MSPowerUser, Sunday (7/3/2021).
From the screenshot Paluzzi uploaded on his Twitter account, these audio rooms can be accessed via the Chats menu on the Instagram application. If previously there were only two buttons for sending new messages and making video calls, now there is a third button with a microphone icon.
Paluzzi did not provide further details on how this feature works. But this is not surprising, considering that some time ago Facebook reportedly intended to develop a service similar to Clubhouse.
Instagram itself recently launched the Live Rooms feature globally. This feature allows users Instagram to live with three other people.
This photo sharing application also has a Rooms feature which allows users to make video calls with participants of up to 50 people. This feature is also integrated with Messenger and users who don’t have an Instagram or Messenger account can still join.
In addition, Paluzzi also revealed that Instagram is preparing an end-to-end encryption system for messages sent via chat. This feature can certainly make privacy-conscious users feel safer because their conversations cannot be snooped on by anyone.
Instagram is not the only social media platform that has contributed to the development of Clubhouse’s design. Recently, Twitter released an audio chat feature called Spaces in beta for Android and iOS users.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, is also developing an app similar to Clubhouse. In addition, Xiaomi has also revived the Mi Talk application to become a special audio chat application for professionals.
