Chairman of the Board of Directors of Power Machines Alexei Mordashov suggested that the government suspend the decision to modernize Zainskaya TPP Tatenergo. He wrote about this on December 27, 2019 to Dmitry Kozak, who is now acting deputy prime minister. In December, the government commission on electric power selected about 2.8 GW for modernization by 2025, including the modernization of one unit of the Zainskaya state district power station with 850 MW and a German Siemens SGT5-9000HL turbine with 593 MW. Mordashov asks to determine whether it is permissible to use non-localized gas turbines and boiler equipment for modernization projects. The Commission selected projects at the lowest final price of electricity throughout the entire life cycle of the power plant and the modernization of Zainskaya TPP passed this selection, says Tatyenergo First Deputy General Director Ayrat Sabirzanov: “In this project we propose using the most modern and efficient gas turbines in the world. Therefore, it was competitive even in comparison with projects involving the partial replacement of a steam turbine or boiler. ”
