According to Monique Westenberg, her boyfriend André Hazes had to make their relationship work again, breaking through patterns that he got through his father. In an interview with Beautiful world she explains that the attraction has never gone away.
“André was lost. The moment we got back together, I listened to my heart, but I thought: something has to change, otherwise our relationship will never be okay, but also not with himself”, she says. her decision to resume their relationship after Hazes spent several months with presenter Bridget Maasland.
“André had to break through old patterns, which he already inherited from his father. By this I mainly mean the drink. His father died when André was ten, and from the age of thirteen he was always in the city. Drinking had become a pattern in which he had gone to run. “
Westenberg admits that it was not always easy to stay calm during the time that Hazes was with Maasland. “When he came by for little André, I kindly asked if he would also like a cup of tea, while I would have preferred to throw that tea in his face.”
“Now and then I thought: see how you look with your black nail polish and your sunken face. But I didn’t have to say anything. When he came back, he became himself again.”
26-year-old Hazes and 42-year-old Westenberg got into a relationship in 2014 and their son was born in 2016. The two broke up last year, but decided to continue together earlier this year.
