PSVR 2 or not? Sony will develop a new virtual reality headset

While we still do not know if Sony is preparing a successor to its PlayStation VR to accompany the PS5 (even if the first generation will remain compatible with the console), a job offer marked by Upload VR indicates that the company is looking for a manager to oversee the development of a virtual reality headset “new generation”.

The recruited person will be in charge of a team of 15 people and will work on the optical part of the product, on heat dissipation or on part of the case.

The offer leaves little information on the nature of the helmet filtering out, but it tells us all the same that the box will be “small and light” and that its development will take place over the next 5 years, which unfortunately suggests that it will not be the PSVR 2. At the end of the announcement, Sony explains that the device will have to provide “Beautiful, unprecedented images, as well as ease and convenience for customers to use.” Although it is impossible to say anything, it could be a wireless headset as well.

As Upload VR notes, the offer does not come from Sony Interactive Entertainment but from Sony Corporation, which again suggests that the device is not intended for the PlayStation. Will it be a headset for PC, even for smartphones or even a stand-alone device? Or, against all odds, a PSVR 3? Will it allow you to play, or will it be more oriented towards watching videos? Mystery.
