JAKARTA, KOMPAS TV – The former commander of the TNI, General (ret) Gatot Nurmantyo, spoke up about the involvement of the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Moeldoko, in the attempted leadership coup in the Democratic Party.
According to Gatot, Moeldoko’s involvement in the Extraordinary Democratic Party Congress (KLB) in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, did not reflect the quality of a TNI soldier.
“I want to underline, what he (Moeldoko) did in no way reflected the quality, ethics, morals and honor of a soldier,” Gatot was quoted as saying from his personal Instagram account on Tuesday (16/3/2021).
According to Gatot, Moeldoko’s stance in carrying out a coup against Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was not a representation of a soldier.
Because, continued Gatot, TNI soldiers always uphold democracy and behave according to morals and ethics.
When he heard that Moeldoko was implicated in a leadership coup in the Democratic Party, Gatot admitted that he did not believe it.
