Modular homes for healthcare workers

Health care workers who will come as reinforcements for short periods in Charlevoix establishments may soon be able to live in modular homes.

The office of the Minister of Housing, France-Élaine Duranceau, confirms that the option of installing two of its houses is currently being analyzed, indicated its press officer, Philippe Couture.

One would be installed in La Malbaie and the other in Baie-Saint-Paul. According to our information, the sites have even been identified.

The CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale, the Société d’habitation du Québec and the Ministry of Housing are involved in this project, which would not be intended for foreign workers who will be arriving in Charlevoix very soon.

The modular homes we are talking about have absolutely nothing to do with construction trailers, for example. They are not mobile homes either, says a government source. These would have a modern look. In a pinch, they could become permanent, continues our source.

These houses would take some of the pressure off health care workers and the employer while new housing comes on the market.
