The NPD Group has released numerous new data for the distribution of software and hardware for video games in the USA in the past months, years and decades. There is no big surprise for 2019. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the top-selling game in the U.S. in terms of revenue in U.S. dollars throughout 2019. It also topped the software charts for December. It was released on October 25, 2019.
In fact, much of the list for 2019 is fairly predictable. NBA 2K20 and Madden NFL 20 are right behind Call of duty, while Borderlands 3 and Mortal Kombat 11 in places 4 and 5. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order apparently performed better than EA would expect from a single player experience and is in 6th place. It follows Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in seventh place.
Some other important 2019 releases like Kingdom Hearts 3, The Division 2, Pokemon Sword, Resident Evil 2, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Days gone are also in the top 10 The All-Year Titles Grand Theft Auto 5 and Mario Kart 8 also belong to the top 10.
