Dr. Amr Hassan, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs, added that there is false information that using family planning methods causes weight gain. He continued: “The truth is that in the past, it was common and normal for an occasional weight gain to occur with the beginning of the use of birth control pills. This was because the pills contained high doses of hormones that lead to fluid retention, as well as stimulating appetite.”
