Zimra Geurts contracted the ASIA syndrome (an autoimmune disease) due to her breast implants. The model and presenter has been seriously ill and will share her on Thursday story with her followers.
Geurts had fatigue complaints 3.5 years ago and was initially told that she was suffering from a burnout.
However, her health continued to deteriorate. She struggled with failure symptoms and attacks. Geurts was in bed for nine months and needed intensive home care.
Geurts’ brother-in-law put her in touch with a plastic surgeon, who diagnosed ASIA syndrome. Her implants were then urgently removed.
Her recovery has been slow, but her health has improved in small steps ever since. It is not yet certain whether Geurts can make a full recovery.
She will auction her removed breast implants to donate the proceeds to the Women for Women foundation.
The 29-year-old Geurts was named Playmate of the Year in 2011 and was in the program, among other things Expeditie Robinson to see.
