Within the framework of prevention against breast cancer, a three-day operation was carried out in which a mobile mammography machine was installed in Litueche, which benefited about 35 users from the commune and nearby towns, who were able to access the taking mammography exams.
In this regard, the midwife of the Hospital de Litueche, Ana María Rivera, highlighted the strategy as positive, noting that “one of the greatest difficulties that the commune has is that it is far from health centers where mammograms are performed, be it Santa Cruz or Melipilla. In addition, the professional explained the challenge that the implementation of this initiative presented to the professionals of the health center, which she classifies as “very positive for us, a new experience, which required us as a team to coordinate and disseminate the operation, leaving a very good evaluation, in terms of teamwork ”.
The midwife of the health facility, added that “it only remains to thank the people in charge of the mobile mammography machine, who made a tremendous effort in taking images, only to add that, in a future visit to our commune, we can expand the coverage of this type of exams, since it is very necessary for our users ”.
For her part, the medical technologist, Verónica Arenas, who is one of those responsible for the operation of the mobile mammography machine, indicated that “the reception during the three days was very good, with about 35 women participating. The call is for users to access these benefits and to attend this type of operation, which contributes to the early and timely screening of breast cancer ”.
