A 45-year-old father living in Florange was sentenced Wednesday August 26 to one year in prison by the Thionville criminal court for having brought his family to hell.
Husband and violent father, the defendant who has never been convicted before, suffers from strong outbursts of anger directed mainly at his wife. On several occasions, the forty-something, placed under judicial supervision in July, tried to sexually assault his wife who pushes him away. Mad with anger, he cornered her by sitting on her and keeping her wrists tight. Their 8-year-old daughter, witness to the scene, tries to intervene and receives several blows on the thigh and on the buttocks. On the first floor of the house first then on the ground floor then where he rushes into the kitchen to open the cutlery drawer. Did he want to grab a knife? Tells him no.
A month earlier, while they were celebrating their son’s 15th birthday, a misinterpreted gesture and the husband burst into flames. He insults his wife in front of friends and family members and leads her upstairs where a heated argument breaks out. Once again, the little one tries to get between her parents and receives a slap in the face. The wife who has filed for divorce is violently pushed into an armchair, her head hits the wall. It is the children who call the police.

Unconvincing contrite confession
The defendant does not want to hear about divorce. He nevertheless admits having trouble controlling himself. “I am not dangerous”, repeats over and over again the father who never ceases to proclaim his love for his wife. An obsessive and destructive love. Placed in police custody, then in pre-trial detention after entering the marital home when he was prohibited from doing so, the man described as “egocentric and minimizing the facts” explains having understood the lesson and measuring the seriousness of his acts.
A contrite confession that did not convince the court so far. “Domestic tyrant” for the president, he needs “little for the situation to explode”, notes in turn the prosecutor of the republic. And to press: “Monsieur is dangerous for his wife and for his children”.
It requires eight months, five of which are fixed with a three-year probationary suspension for the events that occurred in August, and 15 months, eight of which are accompanied by a three-year probationary suspension for those of July. In total, he receives a one-year prison sentence with continued detention.
