No terrorist attack but terrorized people, Wednesday evening around 10:30 p.m., in the cathedral district, in Nancy.
A car had just left its only lane, rue Saint-Georges, rushed onto the sidewalk, mowed down customers seated on the terrace of the “Buvette” bar, at n ° 62, a stone’s throw from the cathedral, and stopped his mad race against the wall of the establishment. The sedan was then on its four wheels.

Witnesses turn the car sideways
A customer in his thirties was trapped between the sheets of the vehicle and the wall of the bar. Conscious, he cried out in pain. At least fifteen people rushed towards the vehicle to try to free the victim.
“We were with the victim – who is our friend – on the terrace. He had stayed at the table but with others, we had just woken up a few seconds before the shock to go buy kebab sandwiches next door, ”testifies a customer, who was having a drink with the group of friends. “We heard the huge noise and him screaming. With at least a dozen people, we seized the vehicle to turn it on its side so as to free the injured person who had remained conscious. We could all have stayed there… ”
Medicated by SMUR doctors and firefighters under the command of Captain Pierre Gauthier, the victim was seriously injured and suffered from several fractures. She was transported by one of the three ambulances to the emergency room removal service at Nancy central hospital.

Driver in custody
Four other clients were slightly injured. Two others, very slightly affected but shocked, were being assessed at 11:30 p.m., behind the protective ribbons which marked the meeting point for the victims on the Place de Monseigneur-Ruch. At that time, the emergency services deplored seven injuries, including the driver.
An investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident is opened. According to the first elements collected, the motorist had just left his parking lot near the Hôtel des Prélats located a few meters from the bar, before losing control.
Aged 18, the Nancy is unfavorably known to the authorities. He was taken into police custody after check-ups.
