The United States Department of Justice and the FBI have launched an investigation into the death of an unarmed black man in Minneapolis, President Trump says. The case arose last day great unrest.
A white cop held the man to the ground for minutes by pushing his knee into the victim’s neck. The man called several times that he could not breathe. Bystanders called on the officer to get off of him, but he didn’t do that until minutes later.
Trump says he commissioned the investigation himself. The President calls George Floyd’s death a very sad and tragic event.
Prosecution
Four officers involved in Floyd’s death have been fired. Minneapolis mayor wants the perpetrator prosecuted. “Why isn’t the man who killed George Floyd in jail?” Asks Mayor Jacob Frey. “If you or I had done this, we would be behind bars now.”
Floyd was suspected of forging. He would have faked something fraudulently. According to the officers, he opposed his arrest. But the mayor says he saw nothing wrong with the images. “I didn’t see that there was a threat. I didn’t see anything you should use so much force for.”
