Cases of measles are registered in all regions of Belarus, except Brest. About it reported Deputy Minister of Health – Chief State Sanitary Doctor Alexander TARASENKO.
“The measles epidemiological situation in Belarus is stable. We are talking about registering 59 cases in the republic,” Alexander Tarasenko cited the data. According to him, in a third of cases, the incidence is associated with travel outside of Belarus.
He also drew attention to the fact that the latest cases of the disease in Minsk and the Minsk region indicate that children whose parents refused vaccination in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar against Measles, Rubella and Epidemic Parotitis are becoming ill. Alexander Tarasenko recalled that vaccination against measles is carried out as planned every year and at six years, and if the disease is detected, everyone who has been in contact with the sick person is vaccinated.
According to WHO, more than 9 million cases of measles were registered in the world between January and September 2023. Among them, more than 136 thousand were fatal.
