Ministry of Family Workshop in Abidjan Strengthens Parenting Support Services for Vulnerable Children and Adolescents

Abidjan, April 17, 2024 (AIP) – The Protection Program for Vulnerable Children and Adolescents (PPEAV) of the Ministry of Family, Women and Children (MFFE) brought together in a workshop, Tuesday April 16, 2024 in Cocody, stakeholders in education parents in Côte d’Ivoire, to collect their contributions on the results of the study carried out on the mapping, their activities, and the harmonization of methods and practices have been developed in the field.

The partners, made up of several state and non-state actors, will formalize a national reference document that will strengthen and strengthen parenting support services within existing services and in co- humanist texts.

“The MFFE has a responsibility to protect children, especially children and teenagers who suffer from social unrest. In our exercise, we realized a very important aspect of parent education. When he is in education, contact with children is broken, this makes the child end up on the street, although this is the most important connection with the family. So we have to work on parent education to bring harmony at home and have united families, because the family is the compass to be a model citizen,” explained the PPEAV coordinator , Kra Sylvain Konan, at the beginning of the workshop.

Mr. methods and current practices to harmonize them, and then enrich the document that will be the compass, and share it so that the country can use it effectively.

Parenting education and skills relate to a number of areas, including early childhood (education and nutrition), positive parenting skills (child protection), parental wellbeing (mental health) and adolescent and young person health and development . With the different topics, several state actors, technical and financial partners as well as NGOs in the field, use different approaches related to the educational activities of parents. Until now, statistics were hard to come by.
