The Ministry of Education is considering the issue of increasing the cost of education at universities in Belarus. About this on air on ONT TV channel said the head of the department Andrey IVANETS. According to him, in 2023, more than 1 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for higher education, and the cost of education in 2022, taking into account the economic processes in our country, increased by no more than 7%.
“For quite a long time, the increase in tuition fees occurred at a very slow pace. For example, inflation and the growth of the price index last year were at the level of 16%, and, accordingly, salaries rose at a level not less than this level, and the cost of education last year was raised by less than 7%. This trend of restraining growth has been observed over the past years, and today we have a kind of accumulated cumulative effect,” the minister commented.
“Costs are growing annually by 15-17%, we believe that the increase in cost will not go beyond this amount,” said Andrei Ivanets.
