Ministry of Education successfully completes talks to regularize 4,400 teachers working as technicians

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) successfully completed the interview process for regularization the status of working teachers as interim technicians in the 18 Regional Directorates and 122 Districts throughout the country of MINERD.

Francisco D’Oleo, Deputy Minister for Accreditation and Certification of Teacherssaid 3,882 teachers of the 4,151 enrollments had been interviewed as of 5pm this Friday, for a 93.51%.

The deputy minister highlighted the high level of organization, transparency and respect for the institutions observed during the regularization process, which was highly appreciated by teachers working as technicians in different Regional Sections and Districts.

The regularization of the working position of the over 4,400 teachers who have provisionally held positions of regional and district technicians was ordered by the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernándezthrough Circular 0875with which it also ordered the prohibition of designation, in any category, on a temporary basis, of the teaching staff of the Ministry, pursuant to art. Article 16 of the Regulations of the Teachers’ Statute and number 5.2.1 of the Pact for Educational Reform.

Regularization seeks to guarantee educational quality, through the integration of a trained teaching staff and with attitudes that respond to the interests of the students.

For this, Minister Hernández has created, through circular 0875, the Evaluation commissioncomposed of the Deputy Ministry of Accreditation and Certification of Teaching, who chairs it, as well as a representative of the Deputy Ministry of Technical and Pedagogical Services, of the Orientation and Psychology Directorate, of the Human Resources Management Directorate and of the Information and Communication Technology Directorate .
