It has been confirmed that the Ministry of Defense is in consultation with relevant authorities such as the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the issue of receiving the vaccinated KATUSA Soldiers of the Korean Army working in the U.S. military unit with the Corona 19 vaccine from the USFK.

Accordingly, it is noteworthy whether Koreans who are vaccinating the corona19 vaccine for the first time on Korean soil will emerge among KATUSA Soldiers.

On the afternoon of the 25th, at the FedEx cargo terminal at Incheon International Airport, officials are transferring the US Department of Defense’s Corona 19 vaccine for US forces in Korea to a vehicle. /yunhap news

An official from the Ministry of Defense said on the 26th that “we are in discussions with relevant authorities regarding KATUSA Soldier vaccination.”

The USFK, which received the first supply of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Moder or Corona 19 vaccine the day before, plans to start vaccinating medical staff and support personnel at’Brian All Good’ Hospital at Camp Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, as early as next week.

There is a possibility that about 40 KATUSA Soldiers who are serving in the military as mandatory administrative personnel at this hospital will also be included in this vaccination target.

However, since modder or Corona 19 vaccines have not been approved by the Korean government, the government’s approval and the consent of the parties are required for the vaccination of Korean people, including KATUSA Soldiers.

It is reported that the USFK has recently inquired about the KATUSA Soldier status with the Korean side.

An official from the Ministry of Defense added, “There is no official request from the Department of Defense (USFK side) yet.”
