From today the majority of the Regions are in the white zone. There white area it is synonymous with minimal restrictions and, above all, with freedom of movement without hourly limits. No curfew and all activities reopened, there is only the obligation to keep a distance and wear a mask even outdoors. This last imposition could end. This is what was stated Filippo Anelli, president of the National Federation of Medical Orders (Fnomceo) in the light of the latest epidemiological data. “I believe that by the end of the month we can think about stopping the obligation to wear a mask outdoors. I am optimistic, especially in those regions in the white zone where cases are very few”, declared Anelli. In short, a completely different line from that of Roberto Speranza, the Minister of Health who insists on maintaining the device.
The doctor explained that “there is an evident epidemiological improvement and we are in a phase in which we have a reduction in the mortality of new cases”. Being able to go back for a walk is what Italy hopes for, which would like to follow the example of France, where from 30 June it will be possible to circulate outdoors without masks. Not everyone agrees with Filippo Anelli. Francesco Menichetti, virologist and head of infectious diseases at the hospital of Pisa, extinguishes the easy enthusiasm: “I would not remove the obligation to have a mask. I would not be in favor of removing it, then the authorities will decide”, he says. The virologist specified that, “it is possible outdoors between vaccinated, between those who have the green certificate and are spaced out. This is acceptable and logical. I could take it off once I’m out in the sea, but take it off as a habit I would wait “.
For Francesco Menichetti “the habit of the mask is something I would not give up.
