Minister Jokowi Meets at Luhut’s Office This Afternoon, Discusses Electric Vehicle Incentives

The government will again hold related meetings electric vehicle incentives. This was revealed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif.

Arifin Tasrif said that this afternoon a meeting would be held to discuss further incentives for electric vehicles. The meeting was held at the office of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan alias at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Central Jakarta.

“I’m going to have a meeting this afternoon, we’ll have another meeting this afternoon. (The meeting will be at) Marves, (at) 4,” Arifin told reporters at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Central Jakarta, Monday (20/2/2023).

Arifin said this when asked for certainty when the electric vehicle incentives would be announced. He asked the public to wait when it will be announced, including the matter of the amount.

In the not too distant future, the government will announce the amount of incentives for electric vehicles. Currently the calculations are still being discussed by the Ministry of Finance.

In his latest statement, Luhut said the government would cut the value added tax (VAT) for electric cars from 11% to just 1%. Meanwhile, subsidized electric motorbikes are Rp. 7 million.

“Earlier, Rp. 7 million was for motorbikes. Later on, for cars, the incentive is from 11%, we will make 1%. The tax is (1%). That’s a subsidy, it’s the same as a subsidy,” Luhut told journalists after being a speaker at the Mandiri Investment Forum at the Fairmont Hotel. , South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/2).
