Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The sad news comes from the Surya Wonowidjojo family, the founder of the cigarette issuer PT Gudang Garam Tbk (GGRM). Tan Siok Tjien, wife of the late Surya Wonowidjojo, passed away.

The deceased died on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at 05.50 WIB, in Kediri, East Java, at the age of 91 years.

“The body was buried in the family grave, PT Gudang Garam Tbk’s factory complex, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 11.00 WIB,” wrote the official statement of the Wonowidjojo Family which was delivered to CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (28/10/2020).


The family said that throughout his life, the deceased had provided the best example of company values ​​that have been preserved until now. As exemplified by the founder of the company, namely Surya Wonowidjojo.

“Therefore, all Gudang Garam leaders and employees will continue these values. Namely, by always working hard for the progress of the company and the common welfare,” wrote the statement.

“The extended family of the deceased is also grateful for all the attention, help, and respect given by all parties to the funeral of the late Mrs. Tan Siok Tjien whom we love together.”

For the record, Tan Siok Tjien, is one of the richest people in Indonesia. The deceased is in the position of the 3rd richest person in Indonesia, and 359th in the list of the richest people in the world Bloomberg version, Tan Siok Tjien’s greatest wealth comes from the tobacco industry.

He controls Gudang Garam, a cigarette producer that controls about a fifth of the tobacco products market in Indonesia.

Tan Siok Tjien is the only Indonesian woman who is included in the Bloomberg Billionaire Index’s list of the 500 richest people in the world. Tan Siok Tjien’s net worth is US $ 5.91 billion or around Rp.88.56 trillion.
