Police in Rio de Janeiro have found Nazi items worth a total of 3 million euros in the home of a 58-year-old man. The items were accidentally found when they wanted to arrest the man on suspicion of raping a minor and abusing other children.
The man was in possession of uniforms, newspapers, paintings, medals, pictures of Adolf Hitler, flags, medals, weapons and ammunition. An SS identity card was also found on which the man had entered his own personal details and pasted a passport photo of himself.
According to Detective Luis Armond, the find is unprecedented, he told Reuters news agency: “We are delving deeper to find the source of this memorabilia. We want to know how he bought it and whether it is from Brazil or abroad.” Some objects had auction cards on them. Police are also investigating the man’s ties to Nazi groups.
