The man arrested in France yesterday on suspicion of involvement in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has been released. This is reported by the French Public Prosecution Service.
According to justice, the Saudi suspect does not comply with the arrest warrant issued by Turkey. French media report that there is a mistake of identity because the man has the same name as the wanted murderer.
The man was born yesterday arrested at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, where he was about to board a flight to Saudi Arabia. Authorities believed they had detained Khaled Aedh al-Otaibi. He is one of the alleged members of the commando that lured the journalist to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2, 2018, where he was killed.

Khashoggi, who lived and worked in the US, has been an outspoken critic of the Saudi royal family, especially Mohammed bin Salman, who rules the country with a heavy hand. The journalist wrote columns for The Washington Post, among other things.
