According to Italian media, the plane was piloted by Romanian businessman Dan Petrescu (68). His wife (65) and a son (30) were also among the victims. The other victims have yet to be identified, but a young child is believed to be among them.

With an estimated net worth of 3 billion euros, Petrescu, who is also a German national, was one of the richest people in Romania. He headed a large construction group and owned large supermarkets and shopping centers.

11 minutes

The crash on the roof and part of the facade of the property immediately caused a huge fire. Miraculously, this is an office building where renovation works are taking place and which is completely empty, so there were no casualties.

It is not yet clear how the crash with the plane, a Pilatus PC-12, could have happened. It crashed just 11 minutes after takeoff, suggesting acute engine problems. Emergency services are currently on the scene. “The blow was devastating,” Carlo Cardinali of the Milan fire brigade told the Ansa news agency. “So far we have only been able to find one body.”
