Microsoft wants to acquire Nuance for possibly $ 16 billion (€ 13.5 billion), anonymous sources say to the usually well-informed Bloomberg. Nuance is working on artificial intelligence and speech technology, including for healthcare. The company also played an important role in voice analysis for Apple’s voice assistant Siri.
It is not clear what Microsoft would like to do with Nuance. Both companies have been working together since 2019. Among other things, they are developing technology that allows doctors to record patient visits that are placed in electronic medical records. Microsoft and Nuance have not responded to the report.
This purchase would be Microsoft’s largest since that of the business network LinkedIn in 2016. The company paid $ 26.2 billion for this.
Microsoft, meanwhile, would also be in talks for one takeover of the Discord chat service, which is especially popular among gamers. Microsoft reportedly wants to deposit $ 10 billion for this.
