Microsoft opens registrations for beta test vr builds Flight Simulator – Gaming – News

Microsoft has opened registrations for the beta phase of Flight Simulator’s VR feature. In the first phase, users with Windows Mixed Reality Devices, such as the HoloLens, are searched. This is followed by ‘additional devices’.

It is unclear whether these ‘additional devices’ include the well-known VR HDMDs such as the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Wikipedia’s list with WMRDs also includes vr headsets, but not those well-known, large models. It is also striking that there are two ar headsets in that list, so what the beta will look like is still uncertain.

Required for the beta is at least Windows 10 version 1909, a fifth generation i5 or first generation Ryzen 5 and a video card with performance level Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 or better. Candidates must upload their DxDiag report to Microsoft so that the company can make a wide selection of hardware setups. Microsoft emphasizes that not everyone will be able to participate. There is not yet a start date.

Microsoft Flight Simulator was released in August this year and was Microsoft’s first Flight Sim game since 2006. Prior to that, the company regularly released new titles in this franchise. After such a long silence, Microsoft no longer had any Flight Simulator developers in the stable and so development was outsourced to the French Asobo Studios.
