Microsoft confirms that Surface Neo tablet with two screens is coming later | NOW

The release of the Surface Neo, a tablet from Microsoft with two screens, has been delayed. That confirms Microsoft product head Panos Panay in conversation with The Verge. The American company announced the Windows tablet last year, then said the device would be on the market in late 2020.

“I wanted to bring the product at the right time and with the right experience,” said Panay, who also says that he still believes in the concept. “It’s a product that is close to my heart.”

The Surface Neo gets two LCD screens with a hinge in between. A keyboard can also be attached to one of the screens, creating a small laptop. The device runs on Windows 10X, a version of Windows developed for these types of devices.

In April already did rumors the round that the Surface Neo would not be released in 2020. According to the American news channel CNBC Microsoft wants to make Windows 10X work properly on single screen devices too. As a result, development of the dual-screen software would have faded into the background.

Microsoft also announced the Surface Duo in 2019: an Android smartphone with two screens. The phone went on sale in the United States for $ 1,399 (nearly $ 1,200).
