Michael J Fox, renowned actor and Parkinson’s disease advocate, received a standing ovation from a star-studded audience at the 2024 British Academy Film Awards held in London. Despite his battle with Parkinson’s since 1991, Fox took to the stage in a wheelchair to present the award for Best Film to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
At the ceremony, Michael’s film, Still: A Michael J Fox Story, was also nominated for the Documentary prize. Although it lost out to 20 Days in Mariupol, the nomination itself is a testament to Fox’s contribution in raising awareness and support for Parkinson’s research.
