Mexico already has its vaccine against Covid-19, Patria, after several months of work, the investigations were concluded and in a few months it could be applied, announced President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He stressed that although there were delays, this was because manufacturing a product like this “is not chipilín tamales.”
When asked about Mexico’s acquisition of the Sputnik (Russian) and Abdala (Cuban) vaccines for application among the population and not other pharmaceutical companies, the head of the federal Executive stated that the decision was made for three reasons:
Firstly, because all the biologicals that have been applied in Mexico have the authorization of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks; two, because the country had delivery agreements with the manufacturers of Sputnik and Abdala and the prices have also been considered.
And finally, he stated, “it is important to know, and we should be very pleased, that we already have our vaccine: Homeland.”
