Metroid Prime 4: Retro Studios is recruiting a producer, what to doubt the progress of development?

It has now been over three years since Nintendo a formalized Metroid Prime 4 on Switch without ever giving us a single concrete overview of the project, and for good reason, development was then started from scratch, as announced in January 2019. The good news in this case is that Retro Studios is now in charge of the project with producer Kensuke Tanabe, who has overseen the development of the recent Paper Mario: The Origami King. Obviously, players would love to hear from them, which they have had over the past few hours througha job offer aimed at recruiting … a “Lead Producer” ?

Yes, reading this tweet coming directly from the studio, there is inevitably something to worry about, sincethis is a key role (the management of all aspects of development by ensuring that the vision of the creative director is respected, a kind of conductor to image), which was to be filled since May. Is development at a standstill? Not necessarily, it could simply be that with the restart of the project, the game was only at an early stage not yet requiring such a role or that the person in charge so far has left the studio. In short, we are still in the dark and more open communication would not hurt Nintendo to reassure the players.

This is not the only job opportunity offered by the studio. on the linked site tweet, other key positions being sought, including several for “leaders” in various fields. Nothing says it is for Metroid Prime 4 moreover, nothing prevents the structure from working on two projects at the same time, but at least we know that Retro Studios seeks to strengthen its workforce. Jhony Ljungstedt, a former de DICE, had also been hired earlier this year. If you have the right qualifications and the desire to move to Austin, Texas, you know what you have to do.

In the meantime, the last game released from the license featuring the beautiful Samus Aran remains the remake Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS in 2017, sold € 33.89 on Amazon. And to think that on our side, we still hope for a sequel to the excellent Metroid Fusion GBA …
