The members of metal band Metallica have decided to send each other musical ideas. Guitarist Kirk Hammett leaves on, however NRC know that a new record will be long in coming.
“We recently decided to send the musical ideas we have for Metallica together. We would all like to get together again with our ideas and then continue working on material for a new record. It’s really still very early.”
Earlier this month Metallica played live again for the first time in a long time. The band did this on Howard Stern’s radio show. A total of three songs were played in fifteen minutes.
The American band canceled another tour last fall because singer James Hetfield was admitted to rehab.
‘There’s just nothing else for me to do’
Hammett late NRC know that he has trouble with the, at the moment, very quiet existence of the band: “I work on new songs because there is just nothing else for me to do. I do indeed sometimes think: heck, I might as well release an album of my instrumental music, so that someone somewhere has something new to listen to. “
The latest Metallica album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, appeared in 2016.
