Mercedes introduces the EQT, the concept of compact electric delivery

In its next generation, the small Mercedes-Benz Citan van will also receive a personal version – the T-Class. It has been revealed as a concept for the electric version of the EQT, which will be on offer alongside petrol and diesel “dots”.

Whatever the drive, the T-Class is meant to appeal to “families and private customers who like to enjoy their hobbies and need a lot of space and maximum variability,” says Marcus Breitschwerdt, head of delivery at Mercedes.

Some details of the concept, such as 21 ”wheels or thin headlights, are unlikely to go into series production. However, we can probably expect a large radiator grille, the EQT will probably be blinded, and we can hope for a luminous line across the entire width of the back, at least for the expensive electrical variant.

Equally interesting are the deviations of the chrome framing of the windows at the B-pillar, which successfully break up a large area of the sides. We take side sliding doors for granted, and from the fact that the concept has normal rear-view mirrors, we can say that it will not be so far from the production car. This is to be revealed later this year.

The second row should fit three child seats.

In terms of practicality, we take for granted the side sliding doors, the removable sixth and seventh seats and also the folding second row of seats. Inside the car – the interior looks very close to production – it is also worth mentioning the tables and the huge glass roof is also interesting. All competitors have this in the production version, so there is reason to expect that Mercedes will not impoverish its customers.

The second row of seats is designed to fit three child seats. In addition to it, the production version also includes basically the entire dashboard, as shown in the pictures, including the MBUX infotainment system with an excellent voice assistant.

The dashboard will look the same in the production version, just don’t expect a white steering wheel.

Nappa white leather, which boasts a concept, but will only be available at an additional cost – standard upholstery will be nylon and designed with durability in mind. The equipment will also include various driving assistants such as blind spot monitor, driving assistant in strong crosswinds, trailer stability assistant or adaptive cruise control.

EQT, resp. T-Class, will once again share the technical basics with the Renault Kangoo in both conventional and electric versions. It will compete with the Volkswagen Caddy and the siblings Peugeot Rifter-Citroën Berlingo-Opel Combo-Toyota ProAce City.

Information about the engines of a small Mercedes is not yet available, but we can probably expect the same thing that the kangoo offers – a petrol thirteen-engine or a diesel fifteen-engine engine with outputs from 75 to 130 hp, resp. in the EQT version 44kWh battery and 101k electric motor.
