The brand Orchestra-Prémaman, specialist in children’s fashion and childcare announced, on Monday, February 17, 2020, the elimination of 159 positions in France and 300 abroad. The childcare market in France is experiencing a period of turbulence. One of the biggest players in the market has launched a reorganization plan. The group has been placed in the safeguard procedure since the end of September 2019 due to financial difficulties.
The company has recorded, since 2015, 164 million euros in cumulative operating losses. In 2018, the result of the listed group was strongly
down to -89.6 million euros.
To survive, Orchestra-Prémaman announced to refocus in its five main markets (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Morocco and Greve) involving the closure by liquidation of 81 stores abroad
. In France, the logistics organization will now be in a single warehouse located in Arras, in the North, while the Saint-Aunès and Saint-Jean-de-Védas sites, near Montpellier, will be closed.
Seven closings planned in the West
The brand plans to close stores in deficit or very unprofitable, this represents a load shedding of 44 stores including 36 in branches.
In the Great West, seven cities are affected by these store closings: Barentin Rouen (4 positions removed), Châteaubriant (3 positions removed), Fécamp (3 positions removed), Gonfreville (5 positions removed), Lisieux (4 positions removed) , Touques (4 stations), Hérouville (4 stations).
On the employment side, out of the company’s total of 1,360 permanent contracts, the project would lead to the elimination of 302 positions for 13 job creations. The social impact is greatest in stores where 149 jobs will be lost: 115 in logistics and 38 at headquarters (where 13 positions will be created).
