Laura is a kind, rationally minded and caring woman, but she can also be very sharp and direct. Although Laura originally studied jewelry design, she is now a business woman. The reason is quite simple – we had to think about a more stable source of livelihood, because the man wanted to dedicate himself to music and the family also expanded. Laura is the owner of a small bakery chain that brings in enough money to take care of her husband and children. But the work takes too much time. More and more often Laura is visited by the idea that life with Aivars has kept her in the reins and dragged her to the ground for too long. Aivars’ brilliant career as a musician has never started, and Laura thinks it may be time for her “second chance” now – she is only 47 years old, the children have grown up, the business is on track and start living for real.

Aivars Liepins (Gatis Gaga)

Aivars is a clarinet teacher not very satisfied with life. In essence, he is a nice and intelligent man, but internally he experiences both his fear of making decisive decisions, his inability to support his family, the fact that music teachers are underestimated, and much more. The dream of a career as a musician may be deep inside, but Aivars is not so naive as not to see reality – he is aware that he is an almost anonymous, invisible middle-aged private teacher who no longer understands the world today. Divorce is a painful surprise for Aivars, as it undermines his belief that he has been at home. He felt that everyone liked the life he had “arranged” – an atmosphere with a touch of classical music and creative chaos. Divorce also threatens with economic consequences, because Aivars cannot imagine how he will be able to live without the shoulder of an energetic wife.

Tālis Kramiņš (Ivo Martinsons)

Aivars and Laura’s family friend, a neighbor who loves to wear military-style clothes (even his underwear has a camouflage pattern). Although his wife desperately wants children, Talis can’t have it. However, he believes that there can be no question of adoption either – Tālis is very conservative and he has something in common with Aivars. Everything that has something to do with the military sphere is attracted to the distance. Talis inherited forests and land, so he and his wife do not have to choke on money. The money appeared by selling part of the inherited property to foreigners, but Tālis avoids talking about it. At the same time, Tālis claims that he hates anyone who sells Latvia, lets in “all kinds of strangers”, “throws the foundations of the nation”. Aivars Tālim is like a window to the subtle, cultural world. Although Tālis is younger than Aivars, he feels like his older brother, who has to take care of the weakest.

A distant wife who practices yoga and is passionate about esoteric ideas. She is very attractive and completely indifferent to political or economic negotiations. Jogita is open to adventures, and living with Tali can also be considered as such. She is full of energy and is very eager for children to dedicate this energy to. Jogita is a cheerful, always understanding and helpful person, and Laura’s good friend. She has a small, white dog Mango.

Haralds Liepins (Kārlis Dzintars Zahovskis)

The youngest son of Aivars and Laura. A smart young man who is faced with the big question – what to do with his life after school? He is unpleasant to see his parents divorce, both of them behaving like idiots, but he understands that it was inevitable. In his free time and in search of his way in life, Harald makes various videos, also films parental conflicts. Harald uses a video series called “Project: Divorce” as material to enter a film school.

Eva Liepiņa (Elīna Vaska)

Aivars and Laura’s eldest daughter, a bachelor’s degree in public relations, a vegan and a “savior of the world” who plans to go abroad and save something. World rescue operations are planned together with her 60-year-old university oceanology lecturer Vladimir, who moves to Liepiņi due to adversity in her family. Eva is rebellious and always tries to prove something to her parents, while feeling deeply that she has never received enough attention.

An experienced and polished psychologist who has developed his personal method of peaceful and dignified divorce, and is very proud of it. The method involves 10 task cards – the couple must complete all tasks and prove that they have overcome disagreements and are able to end the relationship without scandals and hatred. True, the cards do not always do their job, but Gati is not particularly worried about that.
