A six-year-old Briton almost choked on a surgical mask that was inside her nuggets, the BBC reported. The restaurant apologized and ensured the opening of an internal investigation.

Tuesday, August 4, Laura Arber took her six-year-old daughter au McDonald’s Aldershot, in the English county of Hampshire. When she glanced at the box of chicken nuggets she had ordered to take away for her child, she noticed that a blue material was coming out.

“It was a mask, it was baked in and turned into a kind of chewing gum. It was disgusting, ”she testified to the BBC. “If I hadn’t been in the room I don’t know what could have happened”.
She had to extract a nuggets from her daughter’s mouth, who had started to chew on it, revealing a piece of surgical mask. She fears it could have suffocated her. She vowed never to set foot again in the American brand.
McDonald’s reacts
The young woman immediately returned to the restaurant to complain about the situation to the manager. The latter explained to him that the nuggets had not been cooked on site, adding however that food safety was a “top priority”. He also assured that McDonald’s emphasizes quality control and follows “high standards to avoid imperfections.”
“As soon as we were made aware of the problem, we opened a full investigation with the affected supplier and we took steps to ensure that any product in this batch was taken out of restaurants,” said a spokesperson for the teaches. “We would like to apologize to the client in question”, he concluded.
