Mazda will show a new flagship! The premiere of the CX-90 is imminent

The return of the rotary engine in the MX-30 model is not the only news that Mazda has prepared for the end of this week. It also plans to introduce the new CX-90 flagship within a few hours.

Japanese Mazda has prepared a rather busy program for the end of this week. Except for the long speculated rotary motor returnwhich will serve to extend the range of the electric model MX-30, will also show its new flagship.

The American representative of Mazda has published a video trailer for the new product, in which it promises a premiere on January 12, 2023. Considering the time difference, we expect the model to be unveiled in the evening or during the night. And what can we look forward to?

We already know that it will be a crossover with the designation CX-90. The model designation suggests sportier proportions compared to the brand’s classic SUVs. This is also confirmed by Mazda’s statement, according to which the new model has more aggressive proportions than we are used to in the brand’s models. It will be the longest and widest car in the Mazda range. However, it should stick to the Kodo design language.

From previously published information, we already know that the new Artisan Red body paint will be presented on the model. What’s more, the CX-90 will stand on a new platform and offer a six-cylinder engine under the hood. To some extent, we can probably expect to share technology with the previously introduced model CX-60.

In addition, we know that the new flagship will be offered in a plug-in hybrid version, which according to Mazda will offer the best of both worlds and will not only be economical, but also powerful. However, it is not clear from the available information if it will be the only engine. The tuning of the hybrid powertrain has been adapted for the US market, which suggests that the CX-90 will probably not look to Europe, but you know what – hope dies last.

So Mazda should introduce the new CX-90 flagship this evening or night, and tomorrow at the Brussels Motor Show it will show the MX-30 R-EV, i.e. the MX-30 electric crossover with a rotary engine, which will be used to extend the range. Which of the news are you more curious about?
