Wadgassens mayor Sebastian Greiber (SPD) has the federal government and country leaders for tightening the lockdown criticized. “I’m slowly wondering what kind of world the Chancellor and Prime Minister actually live in. Apparently in one without children !?”, the politician said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (January 6, 2021).

A household can only receive one person

Greiber is particularly bothered by the tougher contact rules. From Monday, a household should be a maximum another person may receive. But that could be with the child care cause problems. In order to fight the pandemic, children should not be brought to daycare. “As far as understandable,” says the 40-year-old.

“Now only grandma or grandpa is allowed”

So far, many families in particular have Oma and Opa can help to cope with the difficult care situation. “But that is since yesterday at the latest (when the new corona rules were announced, editor’s note) Not that easy either – now only grandma or grandpa is allowed, “writes Greiber.

Greiber: Grandparents are important caregivers

For many children, the closest family is an anchor to which they hold on and which helps them to endure the restrictions of the past few months. Grandma and Grandpa are therefore currently with the most important caregivers. “From now on it is said to the children: ‘Grandma is not allowed to come!’ or “Decide whether you want to see grandma or grandpa?”, Greiber fears.

Mayor pissed off

But there is also solutionsthe politician said ironically. “Mum or dad are welcome to bring the children and their luggage to grandma and grandpa (as long as neither is over 14, otherwise it will be more difficult again),” writes Greiber, referring to the one-household plus-one-person rule. “Or they just bring their children back to the day-care center, because the contribution will continue to be paid and (so far) not reimbursed by the state. Problem solved and day-care centers full again”. The mayor: stocksauer: “After all, it took two working days in the new year to get upset again!”
