‘May the food always taste like the Mexico that I know’

Casa Pública brings rich Mexican culture to the Williamsburg neighborhood.

-What makes Casa Pública different?

“What we try to do at Casa Pública is to recreate everything that is the food of the Federal District of the capital of Mexico, which is like a center of all the regional foods and cultures of Mexico,” explained owner Daniel Ortiz. “We try to keep the roots and that the food always tastes like the Mexico that I know.”

The colors of the food and drinks transport you to the houses and markets of Mexico.

-What is the experience you want the people of Casa Pública to take with them?

“(That) With a bite I will transport you to the beach in Mexico, to Mexico City, to Morelia, Oaxaca… and also, if you are a person who has never been able to travel, you can travel with food, with the environment , that you are relaxed, that you can at the end of the day come and have a drink at the end of your working day,” added Ortiz.

Daniel is an entrepreneur who, despite the adversities we have experienced in New York, continues to bet on the city.

-What has inspired you in all these years of being in the restaurant business?

“You have to love it. It is a business in which there is always going to be something unforeseen. My inspiration comes from when I was studying, I always wanted to have a restaurant,” said Ortiz.
