The reaction and the decisions of the Belgian government against the Covid-19 is “proportionate”, estimated on Friday the president of the cdH, Maxime Prévot.
“I expected a clear course of action, a strong federal leadership, we had both and we must be able to recognize it,” said the party president. “This is good because it also allows us to take more complementary and effective measures at the local level, while avoiding moving forward in the fog.”
“All these decisions are taken to avoid that we will be in the same situation as in Italy in a few weeks. We must stem the spread of the virus and it was therefore not necessary to take half measures. It was essential to act , even if it is completely new socially and economically speaking. I hope that with the shock of the measures decided we will be able to see to it that the curve of propagation of the virus slows down in a few weeks. “
“On the other hand, I am worried about the situation of the self-employed, the horeca sector and SMEs. Some are already in dire straits and I can only understand it” added Maxime Prévot, calling for the creation of a fund support.
As mayor, Maxime Prévot has already indicated that contact would be made with the Walloon Region so that the self-employed and merchants of Namur are reimbursed or exempt from all the municipal taxes and fees they pay. This, up to the number of weeks during which these measures to prohibit opening will apply. This procedure would concern both restaurants and bars, as well as businesses forced to close on weekends.
