At least 80 people were injured following a collision between a double-decker tourist bus and a city bus in the heart of New York on Thursday evening, several American media report.

The accident took place at the corner of First Avenue and 23rd Street, around 7 p.m.
According to some witnesses, the tourist bus ran a red light and violently hit the other bus.
18 people have been taken to hospital, authorities say. Some would have suffered broken bones. Rescuers are also busy assessing the condition of 63 other injured people.
Fortunately, all injured people would be out of danger.
