Martínez Dalmau presents the Community’s ‘Public Housing Catalog’

The objective of the catalog is -as he explained- «to generate an information tool related to the housing currently available, destined to cover the demand of vulnerable groups or with limited resources or for temporary accommodation in emergency situations, such as evictions or natural disasters”. It is a matter – the vice president has indicated – to identify the number of homes, their state of conservation and the management carried out by the owners of the properties, whether owned by the Generalitat, public housing managers, city councils or entities of the third sector. A tool that “is part of the objectives established by the Consell in the Plan Habitat 20.30 to guarantee the social function of housing”, he pointed out. According to the data from the catalog, there are currently a total of 14,044 homes that make up the autonomous public park, spread over 148 municipalities in the Region. Of these, 12,513 belong to the Generalitat and the other 1,531 are owned by the Valencian Housing and Land Entity (EVha) or are attached to the entity. At present, 11,780 homes are awarded (84% of the total), mainly on a rental basis (57%); 3,657 in the trading system; 8,053 under lease and 70 assigned as precarious. In addition, there are 1,291 autonomous homes that are irregularly occupied and undergoing regularization procedure. Also in the process of recovery and adaptation, there are another 461 homes in Alicante, 79 in Castellón and 382 in Valencia, which will soon mean a total of 922 more homes. As regards the municipal public park, it is made up of 3,796 homes, as indicated in the catalog, spread over 44 municipalities, 20 in the province of Alicante, 4 in Castellón and another 20 in Valencia. These are data that correspond to municipalities with a population greater than 10,000 inhabitants. The number of social purpose dwellings managed by entities belonging to the third sector amounts to 81, mainly managed by Cáritas (30% of the total) and the Red Cross (65% of the total).
