Marktplaats appointment with young car thieves: seller stabbed in the back | Inland

Co-perpetrator, the now 18-year-old Mohammed A. from Haarlem, will be given 105 days of juvenile detention, of which 60 days will be suspended with a two-year probation period and 100 hours of community service. The duo has to pay compensation of approximately 81,000 euros to the victim: 66,000 euros in material damage and 15,000 euros in non-material damage.

The victim thought he was selling his expensive Mercedes in Amsterdam on October 15 last year when he was stabbed several times in the back. He was seriously injured when the robber duo took off in the car. The victim barely survived the stabbing. He has to spend the rest of his life with one kidney and his pancreas is damaged.

The man has not been able to work for a year, the event has had a huge impact on him and his family. According to a doctor, the man survived because he was in above-average condition at the time.

Appointment within walking distance of Sloterdijk

The young robber duo responded last year to an advertisement on Marktplaats in which the precious car was offered for sale. The suspects responded with the aim of stealing the car. The location of the meeting was changed at the last minute to a street within walking distance of Amsterdam-Sloterdijk station because the suspects had taken the wrong train. The victim rode with the suspects for a test drive. When he wanted to show the trunk after the ride, he was unexpectedly stabbed in the back. The duo then took off with the expensive Mercedes. After being arrested, the boys pointed to each other as the perpetrators.

The court finds it proven that the youngest suspect stabbed, also because he kept changing his statement, right up to the hearing. According to the court, A.’s statements, on the other hand, have been consistent, even when he had no knowledge of the file. According to the verdict, the duo was only interested in money and they knowingly followed through with their plans, even at times when they could have repented.
