Mario turned 35 today

Our favorite plumber officially turned 35 today.

Today is officially the Super Mario 35th Anniversary. Over the past 35 years, the little Italian plumber has grown from a trial to one of the most famous characters in the world. Everyone and their grandmother knows the name even if they don’t play video games. For many, the Mario games have a special place in their hearts because it has led to big life choices, positivity during difficult moments or simply because of fine nostalgia.

Nintendo also recognizes its success by organizing various special events. These were of course revealed last week with the special Mario Direct, but here’s everything at a glance:

  • Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be released for a limited time on September 18th
  • A limited edition Mario Game & Watch will be released on November 13
  • Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit coming October 16.
  • Special Mario Puma shoes, which are already sold out
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury which will be released on February 12th
  • Mario items in Animal Crossing
  • Special event in Mario Kart Tour
  • A Super Mario Bros Battle-Royale game will be available on Switch from October to March.

Plenty to do, but it is also nice to look back at the past. So therefore the following question for you: What is your favorite memory of the Super Mario Series?

To set a good example, I will immediately kick off. For me it was the evenings that I was playing Super Mario 64 with my mother and brother. Super Mario 64 is one of two games my mom ever played and liked (the other Donkey Kong 64) and we played it completely flat. Long evenings until my brother and I had to go to bed and then get pulled out again. “It is not possible to get this star, help me.” It is a very nice memory and I am definitely planning to play Mario 64 in the 3D All-Stars with my mother for old times sake.
