CelebritiesTwo cookbooks that once sat on Marilyn Monroe’s shelf are being sold. The American auction house Siegel Auction Galleries will auction the books on June 22.
–
These are ‘The New Fannie Farmer Boston Cooking-School Cook Book’ and ‘The New Joy of Cooking’, books that were published in the early 1950s. They are said to be the only two cookbooks confirmed to have belonged to the American movie star (1926-1962).
–
The books are special because of the handwritten notes Monroe kept between the pages. The books include a shopping list, a list of ingredients for beef bourguignon and a recipe for lasagna cut from the newspaper on which the actress has drawn.

In addition, the buyer also gets an idea of the diet that Monroe followed at the time. The actress also kept daily menus in the books with various options for different meals. For example, Monroe started her day with orange juice or stewed plums and toast and cereal.

The auction house expects that the two books together will fetch between 40,000 and 62,000 euros.
