The State Police obtained operational information about persons who may be involved in the illegal cultivation of marijuana.
The law enforcement officers of the Criminal Police Division of the Ludza District of Latgale Region, in co-operation with the colleagues of the Criminal Police Division of the Riga Regional Administration of the State Police, checked the operational information. On July 27, 2020, the law enforcement officers of the Criminal Police Division of the Ludza District of the Latgale Region of the State Police carried out operative and investigative measures, including a search of a private property, as a result of which an illegal marijuana farm was discovered. Suspects – men born in 1988 and 1992 – were identified at the scene. Criminal proceedings have been initiated and the investigation is ongoing.
