Yes, Hans Cluj, the WHO Regional Director for Europe, warned that the number of new cases in Europe has been declining for the sixth consecutive week and then increasing again.
The WHO classifies the European region into 53 countries, including Russia and some countries in Central Asia.
Cluj said the number of new cases in Europe increased by 9% last week to more than 1 million, ending the six-week decline.
It explains that the number of new cases increased in more than half of 53 countries.
Countries showing a relatively larger increase are Italy, France, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary and Poland.
Director Cluj has repeatedly called for increased alertness and response to the mutant virus, which is known to be more infectious.
