Many are still being ignored, Covid-19 patients without symptoms must isolate independently to prevent happy hypoxia

PR CIREBON – Someone who is infected with Covid-19 with no symptoms / asymptomatic (OTG) is claimed to have the potential to experience happy hypoxia, as stated by a member of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI), Fakhrur Razi.

That is, Covid-19 patients without symptoms this will experience a slow decrease in oxygen levels, due to happy hypoxia.

“Asymptomatic patients who experience happy hypoxia, their oxygen levels decrease slowly,” said Fakhrur while filling out a webinar entitled ‘Sharing Stories of Survivors of Covid-19 ITB Alumni’ which was held recently.

Furthermore, he said that normal oxygen saturation levels in the blood are 95 percent or a minimum tolerance of 93 percent, but it turns out that Covid-19 patients who experience happy hypoxia only have saturation levels below that. In fact, often Covid-19 patients are asymptomatic with 70 percent oxygen levels.

For this reason, patients who do not know the condition in their bodies will suddenly experience shortness of breath and cannot be helped.

For example, a Covid-19 patient with happy hypoxia is like a frog that immediately jumps into boiling water, making him immediately startled and come out to save himself. So this is clearly different from the slow boiling method which makes the frog not feel and doesn’t jump out.

“This is certainly not what we want. Unfortunately, this incident is often not reported,” he explained, as quoted PikiranRakyat-Cirebon.com from the Economic News.

In addition, he asked the public to be vigilant about OTG because asymptomatic patients could transmit Covid-19 to other people, moreover people still like to believe that the wrong understanding of asymptomatic patients is not transmitting Covid-19.
