Local residents had alerted the police at around 10 a.m. because a man was rioting in his apartment in an apartment building on Baslerstrasse. When the first patrol appeared on site, the patrol car crew heard two gunshot-like sounds, a police spokesman said on request.
The area around the building was immediately cordoned off and around ten people had to leave the property for security reasons. The man in the apartment did not respond to the police, which gave them access to the lodge and because the man was there. According to the police spokesman, he may have suffered from mental health problems. Around 50 police officers were deployed.
