Man improperly detained for 37 years blows jury down with audition | Entertainment

entertainment">Williams was convicted in 1983 of a rape he did not commit. Despite forensic evidence and testimony confirming the American’s innocence, he was sentenced to life imprisonment. “I couldn’t believe it really happened,” said Williams. “I knew I was innocent. But as a poor black boy, I didn’t have the financial ability to fight the state of Louisiana. ”

entertainment">Williams’s case was picked up by the Innocence Project in the 1990s. Finally, a fingerprint analysis last year proved his innocence and was released.

entertainment">Now that the American is a free man again, he has finally been able to realize his dream: to participate America’s Got Talent. With his rendition of the song Don’t let the sun go down on me he has moved on to the next round of talent show.
