“Walking around with an incorrect vaccination status puts not only yourself at risk, but also your friends and family,” emphasizes a health ministry employee. “We take this very seriously.” In New Zealand it is not necessary to show proof of identity when vaccinated.
Vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris told Stuff that the man probably won’t have felt too well the next day, but that it probably won’t cause him any long-term problems. Nor, she says, does it benefit him. “It’s really stupid to do this,” she said.
About 89 percent of New Zealanders are fully vaccinated against corona.
